Matthew Chan

Physiotherapy Resident

Matthew completed his Masters degree of Physiotherapy at McMaster University after completing his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology at The University of Waterloo. He has also completed his Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal Program Level 1.
Matthew is Canadian born, and he has also lived in Hong Kong and Taiwan. He is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin.

Matthew has a passion for helping people achieve their optimal health and personal fitness goals. He strives to deliver high quality care by incorporating evidence-based research and a holistic, client-centered approach in his practice. He places strong emphasis on proper education and utilizes a combination of treatment techniques, such as therapeutic exercises, modalities, mobilization and soft tissue therapy to treat and prevent future injuries. He has experience working in both the hospital and private practice environments, which has allowed him to work with clients with various conditions, including sport and motor vehicle injuries, chronic pain, stroke and post-cardiac rehab.

Prior to Matthew becoming a physiotherapist, He was a professional swimmer who competed in national and international levels. He is also a certified personal training specialist, who enjoys physical challenges. Asides from his practise, Matthew enjoys hiking, traveling and trying new foods. He also takes pride in being a lifelong learner and is interested in pursuing certifications in vestibular rehab and concussion management as well as manual therapy and acupuncture.
